Reminder for all Macedon Ranges indoor sports families
The opportunity to provide feedback on the Sport Precinct Concept ends THIS TUESDAY 22 September. You can complete an online survey or better yet provide free-form feedback via an online form or file upload.
This is an important milestone, and community feedback is imperative: as designed the Sports Hub will eventually include indoor and outdoor facilities, though only funding for Phase I has been secured so far.
Council will determine what to include in Phase I and what to postpone for later stages based on community needs expressed during this open engagement period. If you believe indoor court space will improve opportunities for you and your family, Council needs to hear this directly from you!
In your feedback, you may find what we have heard from families and internal discussions helpful:
- Many parents with children participating in local basketball and having to travel out of the region to play each week wholeheartedly support the need for urgent investment in the Regional Sports Precinct, and in particular the Sports Hub.
- Training hours on so few courts are, depending on the age group, impossibly early to get to after school, or too late for school nights
- From a design perspective, we would like to see the design modified to make it more practical for families attending games with the long distance from court 6 to the bathrooms and café area, and with no visibility from this area to the regular courts. This could be achieved by moving this area to being more central to the stadium, rather than at one end. This would also more easily support a multi-stage development – where the end courts could be added as a later stage if funding isn’t initially available for the whole project.
